David Krohn lives in Gippsland, Victoria; he creates his unique furniture and sculptural woodworks from a well-equipped ‘shed’ at his residence.  David’s designs combine complexity with the inherent beauty he sees in every piece of timer he selects to transform.

All of David’s works are his own creation.  He will often have a piece of raw timber stored for many months, when suddenly a new design idea will emerge – often inspired from the colour, grain or shape of the timber itself.  From that ‘light-bulb’ moment, a unique piece will result.  The majority of David’s works are formed from Australian timber species; however, he is also inspired to include rare or exotic timbers from overseas to add a point of interest to his work.

David enjoys being surrounded by the natural beauty of the great Australian outdoors and is an active camping and bushwalking enthusiast.  Having worked for 35 years in the La Trobe Valley power industry, David now enjoys a busy retirement, much of which is spent in his ‘shed’ producing distinctive timber creations.
